Talking Stage
Twitter went wild when some certain people revealed what they've done in “talking stages'.
Even if you've never heard of the “talking stage,” there's still a not-small chance you've been in one. The apparently Gen-Z-coined phrase is a vague descriptor for an early pseudo-relationship full of texting and talking—and maybe even full-blown dates and hookups—but no commitment.
Key point : No commitment.
So, imagine my shock when I heard someone even went as far as pounding yam ( which has to be one of the most strenuous exercise) for a man she was in a 'talking stage' with.
The talking stage can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. How long the talking stage lasts really depends on you and your crush!
Psychologists even say you should wait at least two months until you ask the other person to be exclusive with you. You might decide to commit to each other sooner than that, but generally speaking, eight weeks is a good timeline.
Here are three things you should do during the talking stage.
Manage your expectations. Managing your expectations during the talking stage refers to both managing expectations about who the other person is as well as who they are to you.
Set healthy boundaries with your phone.
Be communicative.
Red flags in talking stages
Could include making tons of inappropriate comments, oversharing, or generally pushing emotional intimacy, these are all red flags. Someone who truly wants to get to know you and wants something serious understands familiarity is something you absolutely cannot rush.
After you talk with the other person and decide that this is someone you want to have a relationship with, you enter the intensifying stage. You share more intimate and/or personal information about yourselves with that person. Conversations become more serious, and interactions are more meaningful.
In 2022, the talking stage is used to describe the nebulous start of a relationship where both parties likely met either in person or, more likely, online. It's the stage where you will probably be texting someone everyday for weeks or months
The Talking Stage Doesn't Guarantee Exclusivity
But it's possible that you already feel like you two are together even if you haven't given the relationship a title. If you like the person enough to be in the talking stage exclusively, you probably like them enough to move the relationship to a more serious stage.
Talking stages are not for any kind of intimate and vulnerable activities especially not for pounding yam.
So I see no reason whatsoever why y'all would be pounding yam and cooking soups. Some even go as far as asking money for rent!
So, the next time you find yourself in a talking stage don't go about pounding yams.
I'm sorry for staying so long away from my newsletters. Starting is one thing, being consistent is another ball game all together. But I do promise to keep showing up whatever way I can.
Love and Light❤️
